STEQ America is intensely focused on developing sales relationships through matching the appropriate technology of its product range to the needs of our customers. With increasing demand for the most effective regulatory driven laboratory USP testing requirements for tablets and other solid dosage forms within the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors, STEQ America is seeking a commercially aware technical sales professional, with lab dissolution testing experience, to enhance its capabilities throughout the US. This key position will generate demand, accelerate sales growth, and deliver quality solutions to a wide range of customers by concentrating on qualifying new prospects, establishing and developing new client relationships, and managing existing customers throughout the East Coast of the US and Canada.

The Role

The Sales Manager is a primarily externally based role which involves selling and marketing European-manufactured product lines, and physical testing and USP-compliant dissolution lab equipment. In this position, you will:

  • Manage existing clients and establish new accounts by identifying potential customers; analyze opportunities; plan and organize a thoughtful schedule to continue the sales process forward
  • Maintain consistent, continuous customer contact to ensure long-term satisfaction and development of client relationships
  • Understand, explain, and demonstrate the technical, financial and operational benefits to the customer
  • Advise customers on necessary actions to meet regulatory requirements regarding product and equipment
  • Create and conduct proposal presentations and RFP responses
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations to new and existing customers
  • Provide sales reports and monthly forecast indicators to management
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with a strong internal sales team to maximize and ensure effective use of time related to sales efforts, plans, and goals
  • Utilize contact management systems tools, MS Office Suite, and salesforce.com for ongoing communication, reporting, and presentation purposes
  • Travel to accounts regularly with occasional overnight travel
  • Be willing and flexible to assist other regional sales territories as needed
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes

Your Qualifications

We are seeking to speak with those who possess:

  • Experience of laboratory equipment and/or test equipment for the pharmaceutical industry
  • Understanding and involvement selling solid dose drug dissolution and dissolution testing equipment would be a large benefit. The existing sales team will benefit from candidates who have sold such lab dissolution equipment and are looking to advance their careers to higher and more rewarding level
  • Outstanding product knowledge, including technical and commercial understanding, as well as developed comprehension of competitor’s equipment. Training will be provided, where required
  • Be an ethical salesperson, and go above and beyond to keep our customers loyal
  • Driven to succeed through tenacious follow up and rigorous discipline – using both phone, social media and email to effectively communicate and close sales
  • The ability to source and locate relevant contacts and sales leads, beyond those arriving through traditional marketing channels, for example web leads
  • Demonstrate exceptional listening skills
  • The ability to converse with clients and obtain the necessary information regarding the respective business opportunity, without appearing overly assertive
  • Maintain a log of common customer questions and concerns, and develop solutions for these so as to respond to your customers on cue going forwards
  • Manage your time effectively
  • Willingness to lead and develop business development and sales support
  • Understanding of USP and/or FDA Guidelines for drug efficacy
  • Ability to use logic, planning and judgment to advance and accomplish goals
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills required
  • IT skills in using Microsoft Office Suite, and a CRM system such as Salesforce.com
  • Organizational/prioritization skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science/engineering subject, and at least 2-3 years of technical sales experience in a related field
  • Experience of selling dissolution laboratory equipment a positive advantage
